Dan Stokes is a Principal Electrical Engineer with 25 years of experience designing electronics for defense and commercial applications. He supports litigation consulting involving electronic hardware, embedded systems, and hardware/software interfaces, analyzing system architecture, product functionality, and technical documentation to help attorneys understand the engineering issues underlying a dispute. He evaluates hardware designs and engineering evidence for intellectual property matters and technical due diligence.
Dan’s background spans products developed from concept through production, including encrypted communications devices, RFID systems, satellite payload electronics, surgical device components, and hardware for edge AI computing. His experience combines circuit and printed circuit board design with embedded computing, FPGA-based systems, wireless communications, and power electronics. This breadth supports technical investigations that require understanding both a product’s physical design and its interaction with software.
An inventor on two issued U.S. patents, Dan also co-founded Encinitas Laboratories, built its engineering team and product line, and led technical direction through the company’s acquisition by Intel in 2017.
